The recent news that our NAVY SEALS found and killed Osama Bin Laden brought on a wealth of emotions for me. At once I was elated, confused, worried and anxious. While I was happy our great nation was finally able to serve justice to the man that masterminded the murder of more than three thousand of Americans, I was also concerned that his following of Islamic extremists might seek retribution for the surprise attack on their safe house and the death of their leader.
The ultimate reality is that we, and by we I mean Americans, will never truly be safe from terrorism. We may have killed the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, but a new leader will always emerge, and more than likely the terrorists who seek to destroy us will become angrier and more desperate to hurt us. The only REAL answer to we have to these types of enemies is to redress and reinforce our own national security and borders.
We may have dropped OBL into the ocean, but he was only one of many Islamic extremists who plot to knock down our buildings, burn our flag, and spill our blood. This is a war, and while the parameters may be hard to define, we need to start protecting reinforcing our borders and taking a closer look at the people we are letting in.
