White Flag or Battle Cry?

I’m just about ready to throw in the towel. Nothing I do is ever good enough, so why do I constantly put in the effort? Why do I sabotage my own happiness to accommodate others when I know that not only will my efforts not be reciprocated, they will not be appreciated either.

I wish I had the ability to shut off my “give-a-damn.” Maybe if I was the bitch they made me out to be I could stomach their abuse. Maybe if I start being as rude and hateful as they are to me I would feel empowered instead of held hostage.

It’s hard not to miss the carefree days before I married into all of this bullshit. How is it now that my “family” has expanded I feel more alone? Who would have thought that all of the media exaggeration about how awful in-laws can be was so well rooted in reality.

Hanging out with Nixon's Godparents

Uncle Timmy was all about spending time with his Goddaughter. It was priceless to see him lugging her around in her carrier and pushing her in the stroller.
We stopped by the park to feed Nixon and decided to let her play (it was her first time in the grass!)
She really didn't know what to think about the grass. She's usually all over the place crawling and rolling, but all she wanted to do was squeeze the grass between her fingers and toes. The perplexed look on her face is just too cute.
We stopped at Cooks Corner for lunch- It was a logical choice after our trip to the Harley shop where Timmy and Linda bought Nix a few outfits and a hog stuffed animal.

First Foods

This Sunday, at a church bbq, Adam decided to let Nixon suck on some watermelon. At first she didn't seem to enjoy it, but she kept going back for more!

Nixon's 1st 4th of July

Nixon's First 4th of July (My Birthday)

Adam and I pre-partied the day before at Black Bull on Main St in HB. Bottomless mimosas left me a little giddy, which made the bike ride home interesting to say the least!

On my birthday, Adam, my mom, Judy, Nixon and I went to lunch at Maru Sushi. It was very tasty!

Then, in traditional form, we went to Matt's house for his annual 4th of July party.
(The theme this year was Luck of the Irish.)

Nixon absolutely LOVED the fireworks! I wish I'd have gotten a better picture of her- she was mesmerized by them!
